Cigna won’t cover OxyContin prescriptions for 2018, as health insurer targets opioid abuse
We are all, by now, painfully aware of the damages that opioids have had on our country, with over 33,000 deaths opioid-related deaths in 2015. Cigna is taking a bold step in attempting to curtail this issue by excluding OxyCotin coverage in 2018, and saying it has a goal to reduce opioid use among its customers by 25% by 2019. This is an excellent first step by an insurer and hopefully leads others to follow, to prevent the easy access to such potent and dangerous narcotics. Read the full article here.
