Uninsured rate dropped to 8.8 percent last year
The Uninsured rate dropped to 8.8% in 2016, a drop of 900,000 from 2015. Prior to full implementation of the Affordable Care Act, the uninsured rate stood at 13.3%. While this is good news, there are signs that the uninsured population may swell higher in 2017, as the legislative promises and political pledges to repeal or defund the ACA has caused uncertainty and perhaps a less than expected adoption of coverage.
